Terms and Conditions
1. Event Overview This private “Science & Sip” event is a hands-on, adult-only science experience where guests are invited to bring their own alcoholic beverages while enjoying guided, interactive experiments at Townsville Education Centre. By booking and attending, the event host and guests agree to the terms outlined below. 2. Age Requirement and BYO Alcohol Policy This event is strictly 18+. All attendees must show valid photo ID upon request. Alcohol is BYO only – Townsville Education Centre does not supply or serve alcohol. Each guest may bring a reasonable quantity, defined as: Up to one standard bottle of wine, OR Six beers/ciders, OR Four premixed standard drinks No spirits, cocktails, or homemade alcohol permitted. Sharing of alcohol between groups is not allowed, and all drinks must be for personal use only. Alcohol must be kept off lab tables and away from experimental equipment unless otherwise instructed. 3. Responsible Alcohol Use This is a science-first experience – alcohol is a social accompaniment, not the main event. All guests are expected to drink responsibly and respectfully. The facilitator or venue staff may ask any guest to stop consuming alcohol or leave the venue if their behaviour is disruptive or unsafe. No refunds will be issued in these cases. Intoxicated persons will not be allowed to participate in hands-on activities. 4. Venue and Safety Guidelines Townsville Education Centre is a working educational facility. Guests must respect the space and its equipment. All science activities will include safety instructions, and guests must follow them carefully. Closed-toe shoes are required for participation. Guests are not permitted to touch any materials, chemicals, or equipment unless directed by a facilitator. No alcohol is to be used in experiments unless it is part of a controlled, facilitator-led demonstration. 5. Liability and Conduct All attendees participate at their own risk. The Townsville Education Centre accepts no liability for injury, property damage, or incidents caused by alcohol consumption or guest behaviour. The booking host accepts responsibility for ensuring guest conduct is appropriate. Guests must not engage in unsafe, offensive, or disruptive behaviour. This includes but is not limited to excessive intoxication, harassment, or damage to property. Guests are responsible for the safe transportation home. Drink driving is illegal and not supported by this event. 6. Photos and Media Photos and short video clips may be taken during the session for promotional purposes on our social media or website. If you or any guest do not wish to appear in photos, please inform a staff member at the start of the session. 7. Cancellations and Refunds Private event bookings may be rescheduled up to 7 days in advance without penalty. Cancellations with less than 7 days’ notice may incur a full fee forfeiture depending on preparation and staffing costs. 8. Agreement By confirming your booking and attending the event at Townsville Education Centre, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions. The event host is responsible for ensuring guests comply with these conditions.
